SCM430 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel as per Japan Standard.JIS SCM430 steel contains a lower carbon content but provides better weldability comparing with SCM440 Steel.It is frequently applied to the gas & oil area.Typical applications include components such as valve bodies,pumps and fittings.

Heat Treatment
Normalizing For SCM430
1.Nominal normalizing temperature:840-910°C
2.Hold the temperature for several hours
3.Cooling in the air
Annealing For SCM430
1.Nominal Annealing temperature:660-725°C
2.Cool slowly in the furance
3.Maximum Brinell hardness of 220
Hardening and Tempering(QT) For SCM430
1.Nominal Hardening temperature:845-885°C
2.Hold at this temperature then quench in oil or water
3.Tempering as soon as possible when the temperature low to ambient
4.Heat uniformly to the suitable temperature of 550-640°C
5.keep the material out of the furnace ,then cool in the air

3.Percentage reduction of area after fracture: 54%
4.Elongation after fracture: 14%
5.Impact test (+20°C): Transverse – 27~32J; Longitud – 45~52J
